About Jude
Today, I call Allegany, N.Y., home. Originally a Long Island, NY native, it was there that I began my journey into the arts and crafts world. As the daughter of a wood carver/furniture maker. I've learned many skills involving handmade crafts.
I juggle my arts and crafts with being a wife to a very supportive husband, and a mother to three traditionally named children, which is reflective of how I live and the manner in which I chose to raise them.
I would describe myself as simple, traditional, loyal, artistic, and perfectionist, with a flare for sassy unabashed humor. --the wild side of me, which still exists from young adulthood. It's this part of me that fuels my creativity. That is where it manifests itself into unexpected, whimsical, unusual and of course traditional designs.
My Art
The first time I seriously picked up a paint brush was late 2015 after the passing of my father. It was then I began listening to that silent pull toward something I had pondered on from time to time during my life and it was then that I knew I was ready to learn. The area I live in is full of talented artists in virtually every medium. As I tried different styles, subjects and mediums I've discovered my passion is Palette Knife acrylic art, abstract and impressionism. I have nearly given up my brushes because the flow of palette knife painting has become so natural. From my minds eye, through my arm and flowing through my hand - paintings have been created that I couldn't have imagined in my wildest dreams. This process has shown me that I'm onto something here. My art is truly an expression of how I feel at that very moment, expressions of something deep inside me. I hope to continue to embrace that FLOW.
Ribbon Roses
The repetitive nature of creating my Ribbon Roses is what truly frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for “happy accidents” and perhaps the help of a visiting muse to influence the finished product. The process of building my custom roses may be the same, but in the end, each rose proudly displays its own personality therefore no two are exactly alike.
I hope you take the time to explore my photos and I hope my roses bring you as much joy as I have had in creating them.
My favorite quotes:
*Be the change you wish to see in the world. – Gandhi
*Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray – Rumi
*Love of beauty is taste, the creation of beauty is art. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
*Hard work beats talent every time talent doesn't work hard. -- Jay Shetty
